BRAVO, founded in 1974, is one of the largest volunteer ambulance services in the state of New York.  It serves members of the Bay Ridge Community.  With more than 200 volunteers, BRAVO responds to more than 500 calls a month, and has a response time of less than five minutes per call.

In the mid-1980s, BRAVO was chosen to pilot the emergency medical technician defibrillation program, which now is used nationwide. 

BRAVO’s staff is comprised entirely of volunteers, and it does not charge for its services.
