The Flatlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps, founded in 1975, serves the neighborhoods of Bergen Beach, Flatlands, Futurama, Georgetown, Marine Park, Mill Basin and Mill Island.  They respond to over 1000 emergency calls per year.  In 2004, it became the first ambulance service in Brooklyn to operate an Advanced Life Support unit.  The FVAC also offers training: EMT courses, Defensive Driving classes and CMEs.
