New York Downtown Hospital operates the only 24-hour emergency room in lower Manhattan. The emergency room is an accredited 911 receiving hospital and a level II trauma center.
The hospital offers Prompt Care, a service which allows patients with minor medical and surgical emergencies to fast track their visit.
The hospital’s ambulance fleet includes four separate units, the latest models with constantly upgraded equipment. All four units are paramedic (advanced life support) units. The emergency room has two important affiliations: with the New York Medical Center (Cornell) Burn Center and Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, and with Bellevue Trauma Center.
