Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps, an ambulance service founded in 1973, serves the North East Queens communities of Bellerose, Glen Oaks, Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Oakland Gardens and North Shore Towers.

More than 60 volunteers work for the service. All ambulance riders are New York State-certified Emergency Medical Technicians, who have completed a 125-hour program.  The EMTs are able to administer first aid, CPR, defibrillation, oxygen therapy, medication to asthma and allergy patients and aspirin to patients they suspect are heart attack victims.

To date, the GOVAC has responded to more than 26,000 calls.
