Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps, founded in 1975, is a community-based ambulance service responding to calls in the Ridgewood, West Maspeth and Wyckoff communities, an area with 35,000 families.  RVAC runs a unit with a fully-equipped Rig 7 ambulance, stocked with up-to-date medical equipment, including oxygen and a defibrillator.  The Rig 7 is staffed by New York State-certified Emergency Medical Technicians.

Over the years, RVAC has responded to 19,800 calls.  In addition, the organization offers free patient-assist equipment – like wheelchairs and walkers – to residents, as well as low cost CPR and First Aid training.
