North Shore Rescue Squad No. 1, founded 31 years ago, is an all-volunteer ambulance unit with more than 90 members, all of whom are New York State-certified first responders, Emergency Medical Technicians or paramedics. 

Early response to emergencies may include first aid, bandaging wounds, splinting broken bones, immobilizing accident victims, delivering babies, performing defibrillation and transporting the ill and injured to the nearest medical facility.
